Bluefront acquires a majority stake in Meox

Bluefront has acquired 55 percent of Meox, a Namsos-based developer of underwater robotics for cleaning, inspection and dead fish handling in aquaculture. Founder-owner Jaras Invest retains 45 percent.

Bluefront has acquired a 55 percent stake in Meox through Bluefront Capital II, with Jaras Invest retaining the remaining 45 percent.

Meox develops and manufactures underwater robots for aquaculture and the maritime sector. The portfolio covers net cleaning, hull and tank cleaning, cleaning of ropes, chains, cage collars and lice skirts, inspection, and the collection of dead fish and sludge — supported by a growing service and spare parts business. At the core is a patented cavitation cleaning method, where air is oscillated into the water jet. The air bubbles do most of the cleaning work, which means effective cleaning at markedly lower pressure and water volume, considerably less wear on nets and impregnation, and lower fuel consumption than conventional high-pressure washing.

Cleaning is a precondition for production in aquaculture rather than an optional maintenance task. Biofouling restricts water flow through the net, which degrades oxygen conditions and raises disease risk; fouled nets carry heavier hydrodynamic loads and are more prone to damage and escapes; and documentation of cleaning is increasingly embedded in regulatory and certification requirements. Demand is therefore recurring and largely independent of the cycle.

Meox reported revenues of NOK 44 million in 2025, having grown at around 20 percent annually over the past five years, and serves customers in more than ten countries. The company is the market leader for cleaning robots in Chile and holds a growing position in Norway.

Bluefront points to the growth track record as central to the investment case: an average annual growth rate of around 20 percent over the past five years, driven by increasing adoption of Meox's solutions among fish farming companies in Norway and internationally. Bluefront's contribution will be capital and competence to further strengthen and expand the products and services Meox offers its customers.

Meox's own priorities ahead are service capacity and international reach — strengthening service and aftermarket capabilities to support customers more closely, and expanding into new markets including Scotland and Canada.
