Alvestad Marin joins the Bluefront portfolio

Bluefront has acquired 52 percent of the shares in Alvestad Marin through Bluefront Capital II. Founder Runar Alvestad continues as Managing Director.

Alvestad Marin has been in operation since 2003 and is headquartered in Oslo. Its main product is the CompHatch hatching cabinet, of which more than 2,000 units have been sold to around 100 customers in Norway and internationally. The solution is in use across the large listed Norwegian farming companies' smolt facilities, in a segment with few competing suppliers. The company also supplies CO₂ aerators for land-based farms.

Revenues have grown from NOK 25 million in 2023 to NOK 46 million in 2025.

Development work is underway on a next generation of hatchery systems, including a picking robot able to remove non-viable eggs during the hatching process, and on more automated handling and cleaning for roe and fry. There are also opportunities to take the product range into new markets and into new solutions for hatcheries and start-feeding facilities.
